Paytm hiring over 1,000 people to support expansion across businesses


NEW DELHI: Paytm is planning to ramp up its workforce by adding over 1000 engineers, data scientists, financial analysts, etc for tech and non-tech roles to the current headcount of 7000 employees. In addition, the company is strengthening its leadership team by adding close to 50 senior level employees.


“Over the last 3-4 months, we have inducted and virtually onboarded close to 700 new colleagues at various levels in Paytm. These new hires would be made for both tech and non-tech roles across Paytm and its subsidiaries,” Rohit Thakur, CHRO, Paytm told ET.


The company is hiring senior talent as it has been expanding operations. Most of the talent will be hired for group companies including Paytm Money, Paytm First Games, lending, and insurance businesses.


“Our talent management strategy is to have an agile set of processes and procedures to attract, onboard, develop, and move talent to achieve the strategic objective and key results,” said Thakur.


The tech and non-tech hires will be to fill positions across its operations in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru, stated a release.


From April 2019 to date, the company said that while around 20 senior executives exited Paytm, over 140 have been hired for leadership roles in vice-president and above positions. Recently, Paytm also announced the setting up of its campus in Noida, Uttar Pradesh to accommodate its growing team.
