World's top 10 most valuable companies

(China Daily) With a value of $2.12 trillion, Apple takes the crown as the most valuable company in the world, according to the 2020 Hurun Global 500 released by the Hurun Research Institute.

Microsoft, which was valued at $1.64 trillion, came in second place, followed by Amazon ($1.61 trillion) and Alphabet ($1.22 trillion).

A total of 51 Chinese companies made it to the list of the 500 most valuable non-State-controlled companies in the world. The total value of these companies rose 73 percent or $2.2 trillion to $5.2 trillion, more than the combined wealth of the three countries of Japan, France and the UK, said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher for the Hurun Report.

The three biggest gainers in terms of percentage growth all came from China. They are: electric carmaker Nio (2,254 percent), Xpeng Motors (843 percent) and the apartment hunting app Beike Zhaofang (786 percent), which is also known as KE Holdings Inc.
