Security researchers find Covid-19 patient data online; alert government to plug leaks

The researchers have been alerting central government agencies against such leaks and helping them remove data from public indexes.

Synopsis

Researchers speaking to ET said that data with personally identifiable information of patients infected with the coronavirus such as name, address, phone number and whether they are repeat positives was openly accessible on the Internet emanating from various sources including government hospitals, state government websites and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
