Interactive English learning app for children, OckyPocky, raises funds from Lead Angels Network

Lead Angels Network has invested in interactive English learning app for children, OckyPocky. WhizKidz team created OckyPocky, an octopus that assists children in learning English using personalized AI/NLP behind the screens.

Unlike other video apps, OckyPocky gives feedback and allows kids to build early year vocabulary foundation with voice, video and vernacular. OckyPocky caters primarily to non-English speaking families. The app engages more than 200,000 children in a month with kids learning 8-10 million words in 30 days.

In a statement, founder of the company Amit said, “Our servers crashed due to increase in traffic when the lockdown came into effect. We had to downsize to increase the runway. With the funding through Lead Angels, we went ahead on monetization and now plan to double the revenue every month. We are also increasing our team size and are looking out for a bigger office space. The team comprises of content, technology, HR and growth experts. We believe we have a duty to democratize education access and promote skills that matter.”

Apart from premium content, the company has started live classes. Starting with a “skills that matter” theme, OckyPocky plans to teach creativity, logical reasoning apart from teaching English to children.

“We have seen an increased adoption and growth on technology on the back of the lockdown. We hope that OckyPocky can help children and while creating a social impact across non English speaking homes,” said Manish Johari, SVP Lead Angels & Ambuj Jhunjhunwala in a statement.
