Samsung unveils 5G-powered flagship handsets in China

(China Daily) South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest 5G-powered Galaxy S21 series flagship handsets in China, in an attempt to get a bigger slice of the world’s largest mobile phone market.

“Nowadays, smartphones have become an indispensable part of our lives, and video is also an important way for us to communicate with each other,” said Choi Seung-sik, president of Samsung Electronics China, at an online product launch ceremony on Monday night.

He noted that Samsung hopes to deliver a more personalized mobile experience that enriches people’s lives and gives them freedom to express themselves.

The Galaxy S21 5G is equipped with an AMOLED 6.2-inch display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and viewing, and artificial intelligence-powered cameras, providing a professional shooting experience for users who love video creation.

With the launch of mobile phone products, there are also Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earphones and the Galaxy Fit2 smart bracelet.

Priced from 4,999 yuan ($771), the gadget has the latest and most advanced smartphone chipset yet in the Galaxy series for greater speed, energy efficiency and advanced computing capabilities.

According to market consultancy IDC, worldwide smartphone vendors shipped a total of 354.7 million units during the third quarter of 2020, a decline of 1.1 percent on a yearly basis.

Samsung reclaimed the No 1 position with a global market share of 22.7 percent to reach 80.4 million units, while Huawei lost the top spot and settled into second place with a 14.6 percent share of the global smartphone market.
