Crowdera Foundation holds its third edition of GEC 2020 Awards


NEW DELHI: Crowdera recently organized the third edition of Giving Economy Changemakers (2020) virtually. The event was conceptualized by Chet Jainn, founder and CEO of Crowdera Foundation and co-hosted by Deepak Dwiwedi, MD & CEO of Dainik Bhaskar and chairman of Nagrik Foundation.


There were more than 200 nominations for GEC Awards from all over the world including United States, Canada, Kenya, and India. Crowdera Foundation and Nagrik Foundation have joined hands to empower one million NGOs and charities by 2030 and digitise one lakh NGOs and charities by 2022.


The event saw participation of Kunal Sood, Founder, NOVUS and WeThePlanet, Sultan Al- Hajji, VP, Total, UAE, Chehab Alawar, RGAFP Board member, Madhumita Patil, CEO, Chetna Institute, Srinivas Chunduru, Founder, Vanskilling and Earl Bridges, co-founder, Good Done Great.


Since its inception in 2018,Crowdera Foundation has hosted GEC events every year to focus on innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship, bringing together the philanthropists, entrepreneurs, social innovators, activists, artists and NGOs to lead the change towards SDG implementation and exchange ideas and develop solutions. The aim of GEC is to raise awareness about the United Nations defined Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030 for the welfare and enrichment of the people and the planet.


In a statement, Deepak Dwiwedi, said, “The partnership between Nagrik Foundation and Crowdera Foundation will focus on digitally strengthening and empowering the grassroot partners.”


The GEC Excellence Awards went to Kunal Sood, Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International and Chitra Subramaniam, a social entrepreneur.


GEC Prominent Awards went to Rajan Samuel, MD, Habitat for Humanity, Manilal Valliyate, CEO, PETA India, Harish Mamtani, CEO, SEEDS schools, Shantilal Muttha, CEO, Shantilal Muttha Foundation, Late Madhavrao Bhide, founder, Club Global Trust, Aditya Tiwari, youngest single parent in India to adopt a child with Down’s Syndrome, Miten Mehta, Global Alliance Officer, Google Cloud Practice, Nilesh Bharne, IPS officer who has worked in multiple rescue operations, Ram Kolavennu, COO, Foundation of Excellence, Sara Schairer, Founder, Compassion It, Kalpana Gopalan, Additional Chief Secretary, Dept of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Govt of Karnataka, Sandeep Nemlekar, Managing Trustee at Deep Archan, Megha Phansalkar, Urban Regional Planner and Social Entrepreneur and Ramesh Aggarwal, WASH Rotary Action Group Board of Directors.
