Sunstone Eduversity appoints PeopleStrong’s Pankaj Bansal to advisory board

BENGALURU: Edtech startup Sunstone Eduversity has brought on board Pankaj Bansal, co-founder and CEO of PeopleStrong, on its advisory board with immediate effect.

With his experience both as an entrepreneur and an HR leader, Bansal will play a key role in helping the company scale corporate relations. He will also contribute towards shaping a strong and compelling corporate brand for Sunstone within the HR community as it scales.

Bansal is passionate about human capital and how technology shapes the workforce today. He is the co-founder and CEO at PeopleStrong, an HR and workforce technology company. With over two decades of experience in HR functions at large corporate houses, he brings broad experience in leading strategic initiatives in the HR domain.

Before establishing PeopleStrong in 2005, Bansal worked with the Aricent Group, where he was a part of the founding team of the company’s BPO division. He was also previously the founder of The HR Fund, India’s first VC fund dedicated to investments in HR, and has now co-founded Work10M, a fund focusing on the new-age workforce.

The appointment comes at a time when Sunstone is looking to strengthen its efforts in creating industry-ready professionals and building its network of colleges across multiple cities. The company is hiring extensively across technology, growth, instructional design, curriculum development, and corporate relations teams to solidify its position in delivering industry-ready higher education programmes.

“The education segment in India is probably one of the few industry segments that has been missing ‘outcome orientation’ amongst the players. For the first time, this became a reality; the company is at a crucial juncture today and is defining how we will look at education in the coming years,” Bansal told ET.

“With his extensive knowledge and experience in the HR domain, Pankaj will help guide the strategic direction of our company to build an even better offering for corporates. He brings with him a legacy of creating corporate-centric strategies and we look forward to working with him on the many opportunities and challenges that lie ahead,” said Piyush Nangru, co-founder, Sunstone Eduversity.

Recently, the startup raised Rs. 24 crore in Series A funding. It received 10,000+ applications this year compared to 2,500 last year, and has enrolled 1000 students this year, a 3x growth over last year.
