Snapdeal’s Diwali sale starts from October 16

GURGAON: Snapdeal has announced that its first sale of the festival season will start from October 16 and will continue till October 20.

To prepare for the sale, Snapdeal had asked its users to select products that they would like to purchase this Diwali. The startup is calling it ‘Kum Me Dum’ sale and the selection is built around the choices indicated by more than 1.25 lakh participants across 92 cities.

42% of the users made choices relating to gadgets for daily use. Kitchenware was the second most popular choice with 38% of the users desiring maximum deals on them. Shoppers also suggested preference for home décor, gifting items and ethnic wear.

Snapdeal worked with manufacturers to bring products for its customers at prices lower than last year. It added over 10,000 sellers in the last three months to increase its inventory of value priced merchandise.

“Our sellers have put together deals that will help buyers get more value for their spends this Diwali,” Snapdeal said in a statement.

Snapdeal’s sale will offer deals on a vast selection of products covering kitchenware, kitchen appliances, home furnishing, fashion apparel including sarees, kurtis, suits and kids wear and fashion accessories like watches and wallets etc.

The company will also offer range users smart solutions for making snacks, savouries, and sweets at home. A range of easy to use cleaning accessories will be on sale to get homes Diwali ready.

Ethnic fashion for the at-home Diwali is being curated for the sale. Karaoke mics, pictionary, poker sets and other games to play at home during the Diwali break will also be part of the Diwali-at-home selection.

Regional art and craft, jewellery, handloom and textile products often seen in bazaars during Diwali season are also added to ensure shoppers do not miss out on the Diwali Mela experiences this year. This will also promote local artisans.

Snapdeal will also launch dedicated themed e-stores including Navratri, Karva Chauth, Dhanteras, among others to ease festive shopping.

Shoppers also have a chance to get additional discounts using HDFC, Bank of Baroda, and Ratnakar Bank cards. e-Wallet offers from companies like Paytm are also available.

Given a majority of Snapdeal’s users are from non-metro cities, Snapdeal has launched a vernacular interface for its users. In the run up to Diwali, Snapdeal’ app is now available in eight languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Marathi. A recent survey indicated that nearly 30% Snapdeal’s users prefer to browse using regional languages inputs.

Ahead of Diwali Snapdeal has also ramped up its logistics network by adding 25 new centres and plans to add more in coming weeks.
