Amazon uses Twitch technology for new AWS live interactive video service

Amazon Web Services is giving content creators a new way to include live streaming video into their apps and websites with Amazon Interactive Video Service.

The new fully-managed offering takes advantage of the same technology that powers Twitch, the leading live-streaming site Amazon acquired for nearly $1 billion in 2014. Amazon says the service provides latency that can be less than three seconds.

“Now with Amazon IVS, customers can leverage the same innovative technology that has taken Twitch over a decade to build and refine,” Martin Hess, GM, Amazon IVS, said in a statement. “Any developer can build an interactive live streaming experience into their own application without having to manage the underlying video infrastructure.”

Amazon is using the service for Amazon Live, its page that lets influencers make money by promoting products on Amazon.
