When the much loved Moto Guzzi Stelvia had to be dropped from their line of fine motorcycles due to an engine that failed to meet Europe’s new emission requirements, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT stepped up to take up the slack. This brand new addition to the much esteemed Moto Guzzi line entered the motorcycling world, surpassing all expectations. In fact, if you’re new to motorcycling and looking to explore all that there is in the world of biking, a Moto Guizzi V85 TT is a fabulous choice. Why? Because the bike is versatile when it comes to terrain, offers superb handling and comfortable ergonomics, and is simply a joy to ride.
1. Superb Off-Road Capabilities
Don’t let it’s classic retro design fool you. This brand new bike from Moto Guzzihas everything you need, and more to handle some pretty tough outdoor terrain. The name, Moto Guzzi V85 TT says it, as the TT stands for Tutto Tereno. Tutto Tereno basically means, “all-terrain”, just what you’d expect an adventure bike to be. Designed to be at home on both highway and back country, the 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT lives up to the hype quite nicely. Everything from it’s new, small block engine to its shaft drive transmission has been geared for rider satisfaction.
2. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT is Known as an Adventure Bike
If the term “Adventure Bike” is new to you, then you’re not alone. Today, more and more people are finding a new love for motorcycles, and much of it is due to this type of bike. Why? Well, because the adventure bike is more than just a vehicle you purchase for quick commuting or weekend rides, it offers riders the best of both worlds. It can be used for commutes and casual rides, but it can also take you for a ride in the back country. This duality makes it a sort of dual sports bike. However, if you like the trappings of the Moto 2020 Guzzi V85 TT but prefer a bike designed just for the streets, then know that Moto Guzzi offers a variant of the Adventure bike, with a lower price tag.
3. Performance Enhancing Ergonomics
Ergonomically speaking, one of the first things you’ll notice as you mount the bike for the first time, is the nice handlebar spread, giving you a stress free grip as you ride. Also, check out the comfortable, plush, perforated suede seat, which coupled with the neutral riding position of this bike, can make for some easy going, all day riding. The seat has a standard height of 32.6 inches, plus there are options to alter that by 0.8 inches. Not classified as a sporting bike, riding the Moto Guzzi V85 TT is designed for the rider to be in the upright position, arguably the most comfortable position for riding. Finally, both brake lever and clutch provide improved ergonomics via their 4 position adjustment.
4. Guzzi Makes it Easy to Customize Your Bike with Accessories
For most motorcycle enthusiasts, half of the fun of owning a bike is in the customization. Sure, you get a great bike right from the showroom, but there’s something about adding that little bit of ‘you’, that perfects the ownership experience. Fortunately, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT is quite easy to accessorize, given their large line of products available. To view their amble selection of functional accessories and apparel, visit their online catalog.
5. Easy to Use, Intuitive TFT Display
The Moto Guzzi V85 TT rolls of the assembly line with a state-of-the-art TFT Display. Here, is where you’ll control your 3 rider modes and other control settings, such as your speed, clock and mileage. Adjacent to the display is a USB port, with a second port under your seat. You also get Moto Guzzi’s MIA which connects your smartphone. Can’t locate your bike? No worries, as you’ll be able to ping for its location, especially useful in overcrowded parking areas. The MIA app also warns you of any maintenance issues, which allows for ample time to have it serviced.
6. Three Rider Modes: Off-Road, Road and Rain
Each of the three levels comes complete with their own levels of Traction Control and ABS. However, the 2020 Moto Guzzi doesn’t have a customizable mode. When the road ahead is easy, and the weather clear, then it’s time for the Road Mode. However, when the weather is not so clear, then it’s time for the Rain Mode. You’ll find that both the ABS and Traction Control work together to help keep the wheels solidly on the pavement. Finally, there’s Off-Road Mode for when you want to escape the pavement for the wilds of the back country.
7. You Get Two Choices
The 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT will come in two models for fans in the states. The first model is the V85 TT Adventure. As its name implies, this bike is made for off-roading, so grab your gear and get your adventure on. The Adventure comes with aluminum panniers and Michelin Anakee Adventure tires. The second model is their standard offering. This bike comes in gray, and is meant more for commuting and weekend rides, rather than off-roading. Hence, the Michelin Adventure tires are replaced with Metzeler Tourance Next tires, and panniers only if you select them.
8. Upgrades Make the Moto Guzzi V85 TT a Faster, More Responsive Bike
The design engineers at Guzzi have given the 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT some crucial upgrades, upgrades which are designed to take your riding experience to a whole new level. Such improvements include an updated crankshaft, titanium intake valves, improved roller tappets, new trellis frame and swing arm, aluminum rods and a low profile piston. The engineers also made changes to lighten the bike, making it 100 pounds less than its defunct sibling, the Stelvio. You even get an oil sight glass on the V85 TT, meaning you can chuck the dipstick and just eyeball your oil levels.
9. Michelin Anakee Adventure Tires
As previously stated, the Adventure model uses the Michelin Anakee Adventure tire for both front and back. Off-roading often involves taking a nice, long ride to the riders off-road destination of choice, so Michelin designed a tire which would not only offer the rider superior traction on terrain, but also comfort on the pavement. Innovative tread designs, and new generation rubber blends mean you’ll be set for a stable ride on wet, rainy roads, hit the pavement with high speeds during optimal conditions, and grip the off-road terrain with the claws of a tiger.
10. A New Engine Makes the Moto Guzzi Purr like the All-Terrain Tiger it is
Keeping in step with the Moto Guzzi family of bikes, the new engine is a small block, air-cooled, transverse 90 degree twin. This 853 cc powerhouse comes with OHV distribution, with a ratio of 100 horse power per liter. It has a push rod actuated 2vpc valvetrain, 6 speed transmission and dry single disc clutch. This redesign used engines of racing bikes as inspiration as it added titanium to the engine. All tolled, you get 80 horses to get you over the terrain, and a torque of 80 Nm/5000 RPM. What goes forward, must slow down, and in this case front braking is provided by 320mm disc radially mounted Brembo 4 piston caliper brakes, and for the rear, a 260 mm disc with 2 piston floating caliper.
