Qualcomm expects closer cooperation with Chinese partners in 5G deployment, says Qualcomm China chairman
(Xinhua) Chinese President Xi Jinping’s remarks at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Virtual Event of the Davos Agenda have demonstrated “China’s firm determination to continue facilitating opening up and economic globalization,” Qualcomm China Chairman Frank Meng said on Monday.
“Qualcomm is glad to see the tremendous vitality of China’s industry and the rapid 5G deployment, and expects to further strengthen cooperation with its Chinese partners,” Meng told Xinhua in a written interview.
In his remarks at the WEF Virtual Event of the Davos Agenda on Monday, Xi called for staying committed to openness and inclusiveness instead of closeness and exclusion; staying committed to international law and international rules instead of seeking one’s own supremacy; staying committed to consultation and cooperation instead of conflict and confrontation; and staying committed to keeping up with the times instead of rejecting change.
Calling the mobile communication industry and semiconductor industry two of the most globalized industries, Meng said Qualcomm has been pushing forward global cooperation over the past years.
“An open and cooperative global market is of utmost importance in the new revolution of the mobile communication industry and digital economy brought by 5G,” he said.
China’s industry vitality and rapid 5G deployment have not only played an important role in advancing China’s economic development and industrial transformation, but also boosted the development of the global industrial chain, Meng said.
Qualcomm has carried out fruitful cooperation with its Chinese partners through “5G Pioneer Initiative” and “5G Internet of Things Innovation Initiative,” he said.
He said Qualcomm expects to further cement cooperation with its Chinese partners, and to inject more momentum in the Chinese and global economy.
