New Delhi: Reliance Jio has launched in-flight call/SMS/data services for its postpaid users travelling abroad, in partnership with UK-based connectivity provider AeroMobile.
Jio’s in-flight roaming bundle beginning at Rs 499 will offer 250 MB data, 100 minutes of outgoing calls and 100 SMS for one day for Jio customers travelling abroad. The service will be extended to domestic flights as well once the service is available in Indian airspace, Jio said in a statement on Friday.
Jio is the first Indian operator to launch on-board mobile connectivity.
“We are delighted to bring this new service to our customers, who will be able to enjoy seamless, high-quality and secure roaming at 20,000 feet, keeping every JioPostpaid Plus user connected, always,” Akash Ambani, director, Jio said.
“With the new in-flight roaming bundle, JioPostpaid Plus customers no longer need to worry about connectivity whilst traveling,” said Kevin Rogers, Senior Director Mobility Panasonic Avionics, CEO AeroMobile.
For in-flight access, user will need to switch on airplane mode and roaming to connect with AeroMobile network.
The other two bundles are priced at Rs 499 and Rs 999.
