Montblanc has created a wristwatch that is inspired by the popular Minerva’s heritage and the brand’s pocket watches. A member of the Montblanc Star Legacy collection, the Orbis Terrarum is a striking timepiece that is worthy of a closer look and inspection. 1. The Montblanc Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum is a world timer
This magnificent timepiece features a world time function that indicates 24 different time zones. The feature is displayed as a part of the theme on the dial. The names of the major cities encircle the outer portion of the dial with the names of the cities at strategic locations in two rings. The print is highly legible in white against a blue background that makes the time zones easy to read at a glance.
2. This is a traveler’s watch

This model made its debut in 2014 with a revised edition released in 2016, and four years after, a brand new look for 2020.
5. The case is more striking than ever
One of the updates that the Orbis Terrarum has received is a new case. It measures 43 mm in diameter and it is made of stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish on all sides. The lug design is also more intricate than previous iterations and it has also been given a new crown with the pusher set at the 8 o’clock position.
6. The legibility has been improved
When you compare the new Orbis Terrarum with the previous editions of the watch you’ll see that it has maintained the basic DNA of the family, but there are notable differences. The 2020 edition was given a new design for the hands and hour markers. These have made the dial more legible, and to give it even better visibility at night, the hour markers and the hands have been finished with luminous material so they glow in the dark, illuminating the characters to make them easy to see.
7. Montblanc added a few new details
While the transverse Mercator map projection remains unaltered from its predecessors, Montblanc did make a few more updates with small details that make a big difference. 8. Montblanc retained the original movement
The previous versions of the Orbis Terrarum were powered with the Montblanc MB 29.20 automatic movement. The brand saw no reason to interfere with this ideal choice for the latest version of the watch and retained it to power the 2020 edition. The in-house modified GMT caliber movement operates at 4 Hz with 26 jewels. The functions are hours, minutes, day and night indications, and world time.
9. I’ts ocean themed
We must point out that the new Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum features a map of the Northern Hemisphere continents in rhodium plating. It’s a detail that shows the thought put into the new design. The oceans are depicted in a blue flinque-foisse guilloche pattern that closely resembles the waves of the ocean with portions of the ocean in light and part in the dark to denote day from night. The strap is made of genuine leather in a patterned blue with stainless steel buckle closure that neatly ties the colors and theme of the watch together.
10. A special limited edition version is available
Although the stainless steel and blue version for 2020 is spectacular at $6,800 per piece, Montblanc also offers a very special limited edition in rose gold. This variant is strictly limited to just 500 pieces. The case is made of 18 karat rose-gold with light and dark brown colors replacing the blue. The continents and grid for the meridians are rendered with a gold coating applied to sapphire crystal. The hands for the limited edition version are leaf-shaped and lume-filled. The retail selling price of the 18 karats rose gold version is set at $20,800. Both versions of the watch are water-resistant up to 50 meters.
