To ensure the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 lived up to its name, the company decided to have only the best riders test it for quality of performance and build. The list of riders included Peter Hansel, Adrien van Beveren, and Rod Faggoter, who all found the bike to be an outstanding ride. Yamaha also decided to include the Yamaha Ténéré 700 on their Yamaha Rally Team World Tour, to see how it handled the various terrains of each country visited, and make the appropriate adjustments after testing. According to motorcycling legend Nick Sanders, the Yamaha Tenere 700 prototype he rode was a fantastic bike. He made special note of its agility, light weight, and power.
4. The Engine is Inspired by the Famous Yamaha MT-07 Engine
The 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700, or “T7” as it’s affectionately known by some, comes with just the right amount of power for price point. This economical bike features a fuel-injected, liquid cooled 689 cc twin cylinder, inline engine. While for the most part, the Ténéré 700 is considered an “independent bike”, the engine design was inspired by Yamaha’s award winning MT-07 engine, developed using Yamaha’s very own “Crossplane Philosophy” or Crossplane Crankshaft Concept. This reliable engine, along with the Ténéré’s ability to scrounge over 200 miles per one tank of gas, makes this an economical, sturdy and dependable bike for adventure lovers.
5. Minimal Electronic Rider Aides
If you’re in the market for an adventure off-road bike that comes equipped with tons of electronic features, such as rider modes, Bluetooth connectivity or a fetching, 5 inch TFT display, then you may be disappointed, as the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 has no such trappings. So, don’t expect modes or traction control with this bike. However, your ABS does come standard, and can be switched off and on at will. As for rear braking ability, you get a 245 mm wave style rotor. As previously mentioned, ABS is standard for the Tenere 700, so you can forget about your wheels locking. Please note that you are left with the option to switch ABS on or off at will.
